Tuning (rough vocal sketch for new song) |
LyricsTuning(c) 2014 Sahlen-Starburst Music A fine line separates Control from loss of shame Desire perpetuates Regardless who's to blame A momentary blister In a burning wreck of time I will never reach forever When the universe is mine (chorus) I can tune the night to daytime Turn the desert into sea Scrape the tops off lofty mountains Tune the blind so they can see Tune the bombs to scented flowers Tune the terrorists to peace But when it comes to my own life They'll never be relief When I face my own desires Try to deal with my own fate I am no more than a liar Who may never satiate It's the heart that has to have What the heart feels that it needs When I face my own desires Caution's nothing that I heed (chorus) I can tune the night to daytime Turn the desert into sea Scrape the tops off lofty mountains Tune the blind so they can see Tune the bombs to scented flowers Tune the terrorists to peace But when it comes to my own life They'll never be relief (bridge) Animals, just animals, pretending otherwise Pretentious boasting cannibals planning our demise (chorus) I can tune the night to daytime Turn the desert into sea Scrape the tops off lofty mountains Tune the blind so they can see Tune the bombs to scented flowers Tune the terrorists to peace But when it comes to my own life They'll never be relief |
Story Behind the Song: this is a rough vocal sketch for a new song to be produced. In the 1998 Kiefer Sutherland movie "Dark City" (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dark_City_%281998_film%29), the word "tuning" is used to describe a being's capacity to mold reality to their own free will. Watching this movie tonight has inspired me to write the following song lyrics about a singer who can mold everything in the world to his own free will.....except himself.....I call this one "Tuning":' |
